Chris Siuty I haven't listened to this in a while but Shannon came up in conversation with a friend when we were talking about the band Tullycraft. I put this back on today and every song on it is an earworm and cuts to the point in a way you don't often hear anymore.
The best music is always music that gets to the point or wears it on its sleeve and Shannon does both of these things very well.
Favorite track: Read a Book.

I Like Bugs Let's face it--life in late capitalism mostly sucks, but Shannon Candy is a rockstar, and her music make me happy. Favorite track: Read a Book.

Dale Price This album is 100% Shannon: it's cutting and sarcastic and goofy and dark and fun. Pity anyone who's at the sharp end, and envy anyone who's on the soft end. Favorite track: Ahh America.

Cribs 8 from-the-bedroom tracks of Ramones garage punk, bubblegum, and Phil Spector girl-group pop propelled by fuzzed-out guitars and bass, scruffy drum machine beats, and raw, witty, and often venomous lyrics, with a few grenades lobbed at sexism, ignorance, the current state of America, and rampant misinformation.

Christopher Carpenter After being the best part of so many bands, it's great to hear what happens when Shannon is controlling transmission. The common thread in all her work is how much fun you both have when she's playing. She takes on sexism and general ignorance ("Read a Book" may be one of my favorite song titles ever) with a confident cheerfulness, like a raised middle finger with a smiley face tattoo on the finger itself.
